महाभारतातील युद्धाच्या शेवटच्या दिवशी झालेल्या भीम आणि दुर्योधन यांच्यातील गदायुद्ध आणि त्यात झालेला दुर्योधनाचा मृत्यू या घटनांभोवती या नाटकाचे कथानक गुंफलेले आहे. पण त्याचा आशय या घटनांपलीकडे, म्हणजे एकंदरीने युद्ध, हिंसा, सत्ता आणि असामान्य व सामान्य यांचा त्यांतील सहभाग अशा खोलवरच्या संकल्पनांपर्यंत जाऊन पोहोचतो. नाटकात महाभारताच्या कथेतील कौरव, पांडव, श्रीकृष्ण इत्यादी व्यक्तिरेखांबरोबरच, किंबहुना अधिकच भूमिका, युद्धात बळी पडलेल्या एका सामान्य सैनिकांची गरोदर पत्नी आणि आजच्या काळातला सूत्रधार निभावतात. ते आपापसात तर संवाद करतातच पण व्यास आणि दुर्योधन यांच्याबरोबरही संवाद करतात. त्यातून या संकल्पनांचे परिप्रेक्ष्य समकालापर्यंत, त्यातील राजकारण, असहिष्णुता आणि हिंसा यांपर्यंत, येऊन पोहोचतेच शिवाय त्यातील सार्वकालिक असंगताचेही भान देण्याचा प्रयत्न करते. The plot of the play revolves around the mace fight between Bhima and Duryodhana on the last day of the Mahabharata war and Duryodhana's death. But its content goes beyond these events to deeper concepts of war, violence, power, and the involvement of the abnormal and the normal in them as a whole. In addition to characters like the Kauravas, Pandavas, Sri Krishna etc. from the story of Mahabharata, in fact more roles, the pregnant wife of a common soldier who died in the war and the present-day mastermind are played in the play. They not only communicate with each other but also with Vyasa and Duryodhana. It not only brings the perspective of these concepts to contemporary times, its politics, intolerance and violence, but also tries to give a sense of its eternal inconsistency.
