ABOUT THE BOOK:- The volume contains twenty articles contributed by the participants at the Indian Anthropology Congress: 2016 under the auspices of Indian National Confederation and Academy and Anthropologists, organised by the Department of Anthropology, Assam University, Diphu Campus, Diphu, in association with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal, during February 21–23, 2016. The volume has been classified into the following broad three sections. Section - 1: Culture and Society, Section-2: Reproductive Health Behav iour, and Section - 3 : Ethnomedicine and Healthcare Practices. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:- Kh. Narendra Singh is currently the Associate Professor and Head at the Department of Anthropology, Assam University: Silchar, Diphu Campus, Diphu, Assam, India. He did his Master’s and Ph.D. in Anthropology from University of Poona, Pune. Besides teaching, Dr. Singh has vast experience in survey research in the field of Health and Ethnography. Dr. Singh has a couple of books to his credit, the most recent being Tribal Culture, Health and Development - A Study of Northeast India. He has also published several research papers in national and international journals of repute. Prof. Sarit K. Chaudhuri is the Director of National Museum of Mankind (IGRMS), Bhopal, under Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. During 2003–05, as a postdoctoral fellow of SOAS, UK, he worked in a five years collaborative project of SOAS, British Museum, CCRD, and Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh. He also worked with An SI, Shillong, as well as with Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh in the Department of Anthropology and AITS. He has published 9 books and 52 research papers. Currently he is the editor of Humankind an annual IGRMS journal and also member of the ‘Think Tank’ formed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
