About Author

Qurratulain Hyder (1927–2007) was one of the most prominent fiction writers, novelists, and journalists of the Indian subcontinent. She earned a distinguished place in Urdu literature through her unique style and profound creative vision.She wrote around 75 short stories, several novels, novellas, travelogues, essays, and translations. Her writings reflect history, culture, human experiences, and social consciousness. In recognition of her literary contributions, she was honored with the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Jnanpith Award, and several other accolades. Her short story collection Patjhar Ki Awaz received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1967.
