Dwarakanath Tagore, grand-father or Rabindranath was not only enthusiastic abut the propagation of English education but was very much in favor of the spread of knowledge about western science. His on Debendranath championed the cause of the Hindu against the missionaries and campaigned for the abolition of the purdah system initiated by his wife, Jnandini Devi. The teaching of Raindranath is profoundly new and creative. His poems and songs have preached a new kingdom of heaven in the hearts and in the world of men. Being a universally recognized novelist, playwright, painter and musician Rabindranath was a prominent figure in the India’s national movement and played a dynamic role in the dynamics of India’s political movement. About The Author:- Hironmoy Banerjee graduated from the Presidency College, Calcutta, with first class honours in Philosophy and passed the Indian Civil Service Examination in 1926. he joined the Bengal Cadre of the I.C.S. and till the Independence served in the judiciary and administration. He was appointed the first Vice-Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University and was reappointed for a second term. He was the Vice-President of the Asiatic Society and President of the Executive Committee of Ramakrishna Mission, Institute of Culture, Calcutta. In 55 years of literary life he wrote 40 books and over 250 articles on a wide range of subjects, ranging from philosophy, Tagore literature, social history, rural reconstruction, agriculture and Sankrit grammar, etc. he also translated poems, stories and one novel. A Tagore scholar, his Thakurbarir Katha is considered a classic work of biography and culture. In 55 years of literary life he wrote 40 books and over 250 articles on a wide range of subjects, ranging from philosophy, Tagore literature, social history, rural reconstruction, agriculture and Sankrit grammar, etc. He also translated poems from orginal Sanskrit, wrote poems, stories and one novel. A Tagore scholar, his Thakurbarir Katha is considered a classic work of biography and culture. Dr. Biplab K. Majumdar got his M.A. in Journalism and Ph. D. from the University of Calcutta. For his prolific writings he has been showered with much recognitions of merit. As a translator he has translated may Bengali novels and short stories into English.
