Sandhyaparvatil Vaishnavi

सांध्यपर्वातील वैष्णवी’ हा कवी ग्रेस यांचा चौथा कवितासंग्रह. दरम्यान ‘चर्चबेल’ व ‘मितवा’ हे दोन ललितबंध रसिकांच्या हाती आले आणि त्याद्वारे मराठीतल्या या झपाटलेल्या आत्ममग्न कवीच्या जाणिवेची हळुवार मर्मस्थळे हळूहळू उलगडलीशी वाटू लागली.

दुपारच्या उन्हाने व रात्रीच्या भयाने व्याकूळ होणारी या कवीची जाणीव सुरुवातीपासूनच संध्याकाळच्या शोधात भिरभिरत होती, ती आता सांध्यपर्वात स्थिरावली आहे. प्रदीर्घ काळ मनाचा पाठलाग करणाऱ्या प्रतीकांचे बळ आणि संकेतांच्या धुक्याचे दाट सावट सांभाळत ही कविता आता सांध्यपर्वाच्या रोखाने सखोल अवगाहन करते आहे. त्या विलक्षण सांध्य-मुहूर्ताच्या सर्व कळा निरखून बघण्याच्या गंभीर शोधात निमग्न झाली आहे.

म्हणजेच, संध्याकाळचे रुपांतर आता सांध्यपर्वात झाले आहे. एक छोटासा अल्पजीवी मुहूर्त पर्व होऊन गेला आहे. हे स्थूलाकडून सूक्ष्माकडे जाणे कि सूक्ष्मातून स्थूलाकडे? कवी म्हणेल, या स्थूल-सूक्ष्म भेदामध्येही कुठेतरी असेलच ना एक लहानसा संधिकाल? तो सहजासहजी चिमटीत सापडत नाही म्हणून त्याचा पाठलागच सोडून द्यायचा काय?

साठोत्तरी मराठी साहित्याचा विचार करताना कवी ग्रेस यांचा या पिढीवरील प्रभाव चटकन लक्षात येतो. मराठी संत-साहित्य, सूफी तत्त्वज्ञान, पाश्चात्य कवीपैकी काही महत्त्वाचे आणि हिंदी-उर्दूतील काव्य या सर्वांचे मंथन करून ग्रेस यांनी आपली विशिष्ट शैली तयार केली आहे. सामाजिक जाणीव किंवा निसर्ग यांच्या मार्गाने जसे चिरंतनाकडे जाता येते तसेच आत्ममग्नतेतूनही जाता येते याची जाणीव ग्रेस यांच्या कवितेतून होते. कवितेच्या अन्वयार्थ, शब्दलालित्य किंवा प्रतिमासृष्टी यांच्या पलीकडे जाऊन रसिकांच्या अंतर्मनात उतरणारी ही कविता आहे.
