“साठ वर्षांपूर्वी सुरू झालेली माझी शब्दयात्रा आयुष्याच्या संध्याकाळीही चालू आहे. कवितेने मला साथ सोबत दिली याचा मला अभिमान व दिलासा वाटतो. कविता माझ्याबरोबर चालत राहिली असं नाही तर सभोवारच्या घटनांतील अर्थ आणि सत्त्व शोधण्याचा तिनं प्रयत्न केला व माझ्या जगण्याला माझ्यापुरता विशेष अर्थही दिला. थेंबाचा समुद्राशी आणि ठिणगीचा वणव्याशी आप्त-संबंध असतो हे कवितेनं मला शिकवलं. सौंदर्य, स्वातंत्र्य व प्रेम ही मानवी जीवनाची आधारभूत तत्त्वं आहेत आणि म्हणूनच अन्याय, अत्याचार, दास्य ही जीवन विद्रूप आणि जखमी करणारी अनिष्टं आहेत ही जाणीव तिनंच मला दिली… “My journey which started sixty years ago continues even in the evening of life. I feel proud and relieved that poetry has supported me. Not only did Kavitha walk with me, but she tried to find meaning and truth in the happenings of the assembly and also gave a special meaning to my life. Poetry taught me that a drop has an affinity with the sea and a spark with a wildfire. She made me realize that beauty, freedom and love are the basic principles of human life and therefore injustice, oppression, servitude are life-distorting and wounding evils…
