Through her wonderful illustrations and skills of story-telling, Manica Musil lives in the hearts of her readers. She does not use brushes and colours in her artworks. Thread, pins, pieces of fabric...make her illustrations. Then you think that threads and pins and pieces of fabric were invented to be used in Musil's illustrations. We have put these to use elsewhere too. Her books unfold like the unfolding of friendships in school, which takes a new form each day. Just like a river opens up around the shores. Pages of her books become trees once again. The thread blossoms in to silkcotton flowers.
