प्रकाशन व्यवसायाचा स्वीकार मला विश्वविद्यालयासारखा करता आला. ग्रंथकर्मीसोबत मी ज्ञान आणि कला यांच्या निरनिराळ्या उपवनांत संचार करू शकलो. त्यांची विद्वत्ता, प्रतिभा आणि साधना दिपवून टाकणारी असली तरी त्यांच्या स्नेहशीलतेमुळे त्यांच्यात रममाण होणं सहजसाध्य झालं. ‘जिगसॉ’, ‘जिव्हाळा’ आणि आता ‘जिज्ञासा’ या माझ्या तीन नातेचित्रांच्या संग्रहांतून ह्या विहाराचा अनुभव मांडण्याचा प्रयत्न करत आहे. त्यांची थोरवी सांगत असताना मी कसा घडत आहे, मी किती भाग्यवान याची पदोपदी जाणीव होते. अजून कितीतरी जणांनी माझं आयुष्य समृद्ध केलं आहे. त्यांची फक्त नावं घेतली तरी छाती दडपून जाते आणि कितीही जिज्ञासा बाळगली तरी, किती राहून गेलं आहे ते लक्षात येतं. दामोदर धर्मानंद कोसंबी, गोविंद सदाशिव घुर्ये, अक्षयकुमार देसाई, अरुण टिकेकर, बाबा आमटे, व्हर्गीस कूरियन, गणेश त्र्यंबक देशपांडे, चिदानंद नगरकर, श्रीराम लागू यांचं बोट धरून केलेली ही जीवनसफर. I was able to embrace the publishing business like a university. With the librarian I was able to communicate in various groves of knowledge and art. His erudition, talent and skill were dazzling, but his affability made it easy to enjoy him. I am trying to convey the experience of this vihara through my collections of three relationship paintings, 'Jigsaw', 'Jivala' and now 'Jijyasa'. While telling his stories, I realize how lucky I am and how I am doing. Many others have enriched my life. Even just mentioning their names makes the chest heave and no matter how curious one is, one realizes how much has been left behind.
