राजस्थान विश्वविद्यालय से प्रथम स्थान लेकर हिन्दी में एम.ए.। 'कल्पना' (हैदराबाद) और 'अकथ' (जयपुर) जैसी श्रेष्ठ साहित्यिक पत्रिकाओं के अलावा राजस्थान संगीत नाटक अकादमी एवं ललित कला अकादमी के विशिष्ट पत्रों 'रंगयोग' तथा 'आकृति' का सम्पादन किया। कुछ नाटकों का निर्देशन किया और कुछ छोटी फिल्में बनायीं।
लेखन राजस्थानी और हिन्दी, दोनों भाषाओं में। साहित्य अकादमी का सर्वोच्च पुरस्कार 1975 में और फिर उसी वर्ष 'रसगन्धर्व' नाटक - पर कालिदास पुरस्कार मिला। अंग्रेजी, फ्रेंच, रूसी, जर्मन, पोलिश एवं जापानी तथा लगभग सभी देशी भाषाओं में रचनाओं का अनुवाद।
