The first three sections are about the Portuguese activities (1505 1658); then follows the Dutch period (1658 1796); and the final section is about the British period (1796 onwards). There are numerous mentions of prominent people both Sinhalese and European, along with descriptions of the military operations, and the subsequent treaties.
