‘…या नव्या नाटकात तुम्ही एका चांगल्या विषयाला हात घातला हे फार बरे झाले. वाईट आणि चांगले यांच्या संघर्षापेक्षा चांगले आणि अधिक चांगले यांचा संघर्ष अधिक नाजूक असतो. तो रंगविणेही कठीण असते. पण मराठी कथा, नाटक, कादंबरी यांनी आता या वाटा चोखाळल्या पाहिजेत. असे नाटक आपोआपच उत्कट स्वभावनिष्ठ होते. त्यामुळे नाट्याचा कृत्रिमपणा कमी होतो. ड्रिंकवॉटर, शेरवुड वगैरेंच्या लिंकनवरल्या नाटकांत हा अनुभव मी घेतला आहे. ‘…It is very good that you have touched a good subject in this new play. The struggle between good and better is more delicate than the struggle between good and evil. It is also difficult to paint. But Marathi stories, dramas, novels should now take this share. Such a play is automatically passionate. This reduces the artificiality of the drama. I have had this experience in the plays on Lincoln by Drinkwater, Sherwood etc.
