During the past few years many changes are taking place in education system in India at all levels. People started demanding quality education Now, Education is to be need based and demand driven especially at the tertiary level of the higher education. The author being an educationist for about four decades was invited to give endowment lectures present papers in seminars and conference, on different issues relating to education and development. About The Author:- Professor G. Pankajam, M.Sc., M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D., had her education at Gandhigram, Coimbatore, Baroda, Bombay and Madurai. She specialish in Home Science-Child Development and Education and several the nation. She has 32 years of experience in Lakshmi College of Education as Lecturer, Professor, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Gandhigram Rural University till October 2004. During her tenure she has introduced an innovative course in Teacher Education. Her contributions to the field of Child Development and Education brought many laurels to her. To mention a few, Alumni Achievement Award from M.S. University, Baroda, Best Principal Award from Government of Tamil Nadu, Fulbright Fellowship of US.
