ABOUT THE BOOK:- This book highlights the regional disparities in India in terms of per capita income, HDI as well as its components and in respect of the measures of human poverty index over a period of 30 years since the 1980s. Appropriate statistical and economic tools are used to determine the causes of socioeconomic disparities across Indian states. The signs of progress in economic and social indicators have been found in few states while other states lag behind, implying thereby unevenness and unequal spread of the benefits of economic growth among the states of India. The book also identifies the factors underlying divergence in economic and social activity in India and provides policy suggestions for bringing about more balanced and inclusive development in India. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:- Dr. Prabhjot Kaur is an Assistant Professor in Economics at D.A.V. College, Bathinda and has been teaching Economics for the last two years. She did her Ph.D. in Economics from Punjab School of Economics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
