विंदा करंदीकरांनी बालकविता प्रथम प्रकाशित झाली ती सुमारे पन्नास वर्षांपूर्वी. ती तोपर्यंतच्या बालकवितेपेक्षा पूर्ण वेगळी, वेगळ्या काव्यजाणिवेतून लिहिलेली, नवीन होती. या कवितेने गेल्या अर्धशतकाहून अधिक काळ मुलांच्या मनावर मोहिनी घातली आहे. बालपणी या कवितांचा आनंद घेणारी मुलं आज मोठी होऊन आपल्या मुला-नातवंडांना तितक्याच आवडीने या कविता वाचून दाखवतात आणि आजची एकविसाव्या शतकातली मुलंही या कवितेच्या बालविश्वात रंगून जातात. हे घडलं कारण या कविता लिहिताना विंदा स्वतः मुलांहून मूल झाले. त्यांचं मन बालकाचं झालं बालकाला त्याच्या प्रतिभेच्या दृष्टीतून जग कसं दिसू शकेल हे त्यांनी ओळखलं आणि तेच जग त्यांनी आपल्या अद्भुतरम्य शैलीतून उभं केलं. म्हणूनच त्यांनी फक्त बालकविता लिहिली नाही तर या कवितांच्या रूपाने मराठीतली श्रेष्ठ कविता लिहिली असं म्हणता येईल. विंदा करंदीकरांची विद्वत्ता, सूक्ष्म अवलोकन, भाषाप्रभुत्व या साऱ्यांचं सामर्थ्य त्यांच्या बालकवितांतही एकवटलं आहे, पण या साऱ्यांनी त्यांच्या कवितेवर कधीच मात केली नाही. त्यांची समृद्ध काव्यजाणीव, त्यांचं भाषावैभव, युआनचे उत्तुंग कल्पनाशक्ती या सर्वांनी मुलांकरिता एक नवं, कोवळं, टवटवीत सोपेपण धारण केलं, आणि तेही आपला उच्च दर्जा न सोडता. त्यांच्या कवितेतले प्राणी, पक्षी, पऱ्या, ढग, पाऊस, चित्रविचित्र माणसं, भुतं मुलांना अगदी जवळची वाटतात. कारण ती त्यांच्या भोवतालच्या जगात वावरणाऱ्या माणसांसारखी दिसतात, वागतात. इतकंच काय, ही माणसं आणि प्राणी-पक्षीदेखील नेहमीपेक्षा अधिकच जवळची वाटतात. या कवितेत माकड छत्रीएवढी हॅट घालतो तर कोल्हा पुणेरी पगडी घालतो, माकडाच्या दुकानात सिंह खरेदीला जातो, उंट कुराण वाचतो. झुरळ रेडिओत शिरून गवई होऊन बाहेर येतं आणि त्याच्या गाण्याला उंदीर तबल्याची साथ करतो, प्रेक्षक असतं मांजर. अशा प्राण्यांच्या जगाबरोबरच या कवितांमध्ये पाऱ्यांचं सुंदर जग आहे, एटू लोकांचा अद्भुत देश आहे, पिशी मावशी आणि तिच्या भुतावळीचं भीतीदायक जग आहे, सर्कशीमधून पळून आलेल्या माकडाच्या गमतीजमती आहेत. Vinda Karandikar's children's poem was first published about fifty years ago. It was completely different from the children's poetry of that time, written in a different poetic sense, new. This poem has charmed the minds of children for more than half a century. The children who enjoyed these poems in their childhood grow up and recite these poems to their children and grandchildren with equal interest and the children of today's twenty-first century are also immersed in the children's world of this poetry. This happened because while writing these poems, Vinda himself became a child of children. His mind became that of a child, he recognized how a child could see the world through the eyes of his genius, and he created that world through his wonderful style. Therefore, it can be said that he not only wrote children's poetry but also wrote the best poetry in Marathi in the form of these poems. All the power of Vinda Karandikar's erudition, subtle observation, mastery of language are united in his children's poetry, but all these never overcame his poetry. His rich poetic sensibility, his eloquence, Yuan's wild imagination all took on a new, tender, youthful simplicity for children, and that too without sacrificing their high quality. Animals, birds, fairies, clouds, rain, strange people, ghosts in his poems are very close to children. Because they look and behave like people who walk in the world around them. What's more, these people and animals and birds also feel closer than ever. In this poem, the monkey wears an umbrella-sized hat, the fox wears a Puneri turban, the lion goes shopping in the monkey's shop, and the camel reads the Quran. A cockroach enters the radio and comes out in a frenzy, and a rat accompanies the tabla to its song, the audience is a cat. Along with the world of such animals, these poems have the beautiful world of mercury, the wonderful country of Etu people, the scary world of Aunt Pishi and her ghost, the fun of the monkey who escaped from the circus.
