Does full justice to the original!

There is no dearth of good translations of Ghalib in the market. However, Najeeb Jung’s translation stands out for its easy flow and diction while remaining faithful to the Urdu original. It effectively conveys Ghalib’s thoughts and sentiments in simple and elegant English and makes for an enjoyable reading.

Compliments to Mr Jung for doing this translation & Rekhta for publishing it. I would have loved if Mr Jung had given the context / background in which a particular ghazal was said by Mirza Ghalib or an explanation for a reader to truly appreciate the nuance of a sher or a ghazal. Food for thought

Ghalib is accessible finally

If you know dated words but find it hard to understand their usage...this book is a must...the translations are to the point...not poetic...but they are perfect for understanding the meaning of each she'r... Ghalib has been made accessible... thank you Rekhta...
