मराठी कथा-कादंबरी-कवितेत पाऊस आजवर हळुवार होऊन वावरत आलेला आहे. तो कधी सखा असतो, कधी प्रियकर, कधी पोशिंदा, कधी आईच्या दुग्धासारखा संजीवक, नवनिर्माणक्षम असतो. कृष्णात खोत यांच्या ‘झडझिंबड’ कादंबरीत पाऊस मात्र वेगळ्याच रौद्र रूपात भेटतो. पाऊस हाच कादंबरीचा नायक असणारी ही मराठीतली एकमेव कादंबरी आहे. पावसाची विविध रूपे इथे सहजपणे विकसित होत जातात. शेतकरी आणि पाऊस, खेडे आणि पाऊस यांचे असणारे अनोखे नातेबंध या कादंबरीत उलगडत जातात.
