Children possess a deep trust in life, a strong curiosity to learn something new, and a spirit of participation far greater than that of adults. They are innocent and fair-minded, more compassionate and sensitive than grown-ups. Soft as wax and full of faith, a child’s heart is like a clean slate on which images of various emotions and playful experiences are naturally etched. To shape these into songs and preserve them on the page is the responsibility of poets, because such songs practically contribute to a child’s character-building and therefore hold great significance.

Children are extraordinary beings. They are alert at every moment, eager to solve unsolved riddles, and dream of filling their laps with stars. It is essential for adults to recognize and respect the natural urges of children. Writing for children is a demanding and challenging task. A writer of children’s literature must open up the child’s mind and hold a mirror before children so that they can see themselves. The more skillfully, honestly, energetically, and sincerely a writer becomes a child among children—serving as their motivator and guide—the more children are drawn toward that writer. Only a writer deeply devoted to children’s literature can truly accomplish this.

Whatever adults write for children, directly or indirectly, serves a purpose. It is also true that sensitivity to subtlety, softness, simplicity, and fragrance, as well as the appreciation of life’s artistic and emotional experiences, play a vital role in shaping a child’s personality.

The songs in this collection of children’s poems connect the world of children with that of adults; they draw children’s attention toward nature, seasons, and the environment; and through parents, siblings, grandparents, and the supreme power, they inspire gratitude, good deeds, virtues, and healthy human values. These songs are built upon the invisible foundation of moral values. Most of these songs have already been broadcast on All India Radio, Mumbai, and many others have also.

जीवन के प्रति पूरा भरोसा, कुछ नया जानने की ललक और भागीदारी की भावना जितनी बलवती बच्चों में होती है, उतनी बड़ों में नहीं होती। वे निष्कपट व न्यायप्रिय होते हैं। वे बड़ों की बनिस्बत अधिक सहृदय तथा संवेदनशील होते हैं। मोम-से कोमल और आस्थावान बाल हृदय धुली स्लेट की तरह हैं, जिन पर विभिन्न भावनाओं तथा क्रीड़ाओं के चित्र अंकित होते हैं। उन्हें पन्नों पर गीतों के रूप में उतारना और सहेज कर रखना कवियों का दायित्व है क्योंकि ये गीत व्यावहारिक रूप में बच्चों के चरित्र-निर्माण में सहायक होते हैं इसलिए इनका खासा महत्व है।

बच्चे विलक्षण होते हैं। वे पल-पल जागरुक हैं। अनबूझ पहेली को बूझने की चाह रखते हैं। झोली में तारे भरने के सपने रखते हैं। बच्चों के नैसर्गिक आग्रहों को पहचानना और आदर करना बड़ों के लिए जरूरी है। बच्चों के लिए लिखना बड़ा कठिन व चुनौती भरा काम है। बाल मन को उघाड़ कर, खुद बच्चों को आईने के समान दिखाने का काम बच्चों के लेखक को करना पड़ता है। इस कार्य में जितनी ही चुस्ती, फुर्ती, ईमानदारी और मुस्तैदी से बच्चों के साथ, बच्चा बन कर, उनका प्रेरक और मार्गदर्शक बनता है, उतना ही बच्चे उसकी तरफ आकर्षित होते हैं। यह काम बाल-साहित्य के प्रति समर्पित लेखक ही कर सकता है।

बच्चों के लिए बड़े जो भी लिखते हैं, प्रत्यक्ष या परोक्ष रूप में उद्देश्य पूरक होता है। ये भी सच है कि बारीकी, कोमलता, सहजता तथा खुशबू आदि की पहचान तथा जीवन की कलात्मक एवं रागात्मक अनुभूतियों का रसास्वादन बच्चे के व्यक्तित्व के विकास में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं।

इस बाल गीत संकलन के गीत, बच्चों की दुनिया को, बड़ों की दुनिया से जोड़ता है; प्रकृति, ऋतुओं तथा पर्यावरण की ओर उनका ध्यान खीचते हैं; माता-पिता, भाई-बहन, दादा-दादी, नाना-नानी और परम शक्ति के ज़रिए कृतज्ञता, सत्कर्म, सद्गुण और स्वस्थ मानवीय मूल्य रोपने की प्रेरणा देते हैं। ये गीत संस्कार के अदृश्य धरातल पर निर्मित हैं। इनमें से अधिकांश गीत आकाशवाणी मुंबई से प्रसारित हो चुके हैं तथा कई वृंदगान में रिकॉर्ड होकर प्रसारित होते रहते हैं।

बहुमुखी प्रतिभा के धनी डॉ. राजेंद्र संजय ने कई रंगमंच और रेडियो नाटक लिखे हैं, उनमें अभिनय किया और उनका निर्देशन भी किया है।आपने विविध भारती सेवा के “हवा महल” तथा “रस-विहार” प्रोग्राम के लिए कई नाटक लिखे, उनका निर्देशन किया और उनमें अभिनय किया है। इनके अतिरिक्त आपने लगभग एक दर्जन हिंदी फिल्मों में अभिनय किया है जिनमें प्रमुख हैं-सौदागर,पांच खिलाड़ी, हम बच्चे हिंदुस्तान के, तीसरा किनारा, रुस्तम, वो जो था एक मसीहाः मौलाना आज़ाद। आपने नेपाली फिल्म ‘निष्ठुरी’ में भी अभिनय किया है। आपने कई फिल्मों के गीत लिखे हैं जिनमें प्रमुख हैं पांच खिलाड़ी, तवायफ की बेटी और वो जो था एक मसीहाः मौलाना आज़ाद। आपने फिल्म वो जो था एक मसीहाः मौलाना अज़ाद को लिखा, निर्देशित किया और भारती व्यास के साथ मिलकर निर्माण भी किया। इस फिल्म को आर्यन रोज फाउंडेशन ने फीचर फिल्म कैटेगेरी में तृतीय सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म के रूप में पुरष्कृत किया है। इसी फिल्म को बेतिया इंटरनेशनल फिल्म फेस्टीवल 2021 ने रुवि अवार्ड से पुरस्कृत किया है। आपने गुजरात राज्य सरकार के लिए भारती व्यास के साथ मिलकर दो डॉक्यूमेंट्री फिल्में “नहीं-नहीं” (
