About the Author:- Sir William Muir, Order of the Star of India (1819–1905) was a Scottish Orientalist, and colonial administrator, Principal of the University of Edinburgh and Lieutenant Governor of the North-West Provinces of British India. Muir was a scholar of Islam. His chief area of expertise was the history of the time of Muhammad and the early caliphate.
