Its principal aim was to reveal to adherents of the system the errors it contains; but the original form is retained, as the doctrines here attributed to Buddha have not been converted, so far as he can learn, by any of the priests; though, of course, they repudiate the inferences he has drawn from them. The book is the product of extensive study if this religion. The subject of the book is illuminating and delicate. Through the book is a rare one, it may recognized even by those who dissent from the author’s views. About the Author :-Robert Spence Hardy, also known as Robert Hardy was born in 1803 at Preston, Lancashire in United Kingdom of Great Britain to John Hardy and Anne Hardy. He was married to Mary Anne Hardy and father of Emily Anne Scott; Louisa Margaret Godley; Edwin Spence Hardy and Alfred Spence Hardy. He was a British orientalist, author and journalist. He is the author of books such as Christianity and Buddhism Compared, A manual of Budhism, in its modern development; Eastern Monachism: An account of the origin, laws, discipline, sacred writings, mysterious rites, religious ceremonies; and The Sacred Books of the Buddhists Compared With History and Modern Science.
