Product description
About The Book : Street foods are popular edibles sold in almost every country of the world; encompassing anything sold on the streets that can be eaten without further processing. Consumption of ready-to-eat cooked food on the streets has been in practice since the dawn of civilization. Today, more than 2.3 billion people across the world consume street foods on a daily basis. Based on research carried out from 1991-1993 and then on 2009 and 2019, Street Food Vending in Urban Assam: An Anthropological Appraisal traces the emergence of street foods in the urban precincts of Guwahati in Assam. It highlights how eating of prepared foods on the streets began to be socially accepted as urbanization progressed, breaking barriers of caste restrictions attached to cooked food.
