About the Book:-With the aim to reduce to standard rule the Nepali tongue, as spoken at cosmopolitan Darjeeling, is really an entirely new work. In preparing it the author has had the advantage of elaborating critical notes on the first edition by the most exalted authority in Kathmandu; in passing it through the press, the invaluable assistance of the highest authority in Darjeeling; and in meeting the expense, the practical patronage of the Government of Bengal, the advance purchase of an adequate number of copies. On perusing it the student will perhaps allow some of its shortcomings –to be persuaded to learn the native alphabet at the outset—the language is much easier in its own character than in the ill-fitting Roman—and to procure in due course of time. The vocabulary is not so full as in the first edition, but may prove of working utility pending extension in a separate volume. He was ordained in 1961 and in 1988 he was consecrated as the Bishop of Rochester. In 1994, he became the Bishop of Durham until he retired in 2003. In his retirement, Turnbull continues "preaching and teaching and writing". He began his ministry in 1960 as a deacon and curate of Middleton in the Diocese of Manchester.Robert Kilgour was a Scottish clergyman who served in the Scottish Episcopal Church as Bishop of Aberdeen from 1768 to 1786 and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church from 1782 to 1788. He was an outspoken supporter of the Jacobite cause. He was consecrated as Bishop of Aberdeen on 21 September 1768 by William Falconer, Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, James Rait, Bishop of Brechin, and John Alexander, Bishop of Dunkeld.
