नेहमीच्या कौटुंबिक आणि सांकेतिक नाटकासाठी ज्या गोष्टी लागतात त्या सगळ्या गोष्टी ‘मधल्या भिंती’ या नाटकात असूनही हे नेहमीचे कौटुंबिक नाटक नाही. हे नाटक रंजनप्रधान नाही. आणि अश्रुधारा वाहविणारेदेखील नाही. वास्तवातल्या व्यक्ती-व्यक्तीसंबंधांतले भावपूर्ण ताण यात असूनही हे नाटक भावजड होत नाही. तरीही परिस्थिती आणि व्यक्ती यांच्यातील संघर्षाचे गांभीर्य, तारुण्यसुलभ भावनात्मकता, प्रौढधर्मी विचारीपणा आणि वार्धक्यातील कणव ममत्व ह्यातून उभारणारे व्यामिश्र परिस्थितीतील नाट्य यात अनुभवता येते. Despite having all the elements of a typical family and symbolic drama, Madhlia Varaya is not a typical family drama. This drama is not Ranjan Pradhan. And not a tearjerker either. Despite the emotional tension between real-life interpersonal relationships, this play does not become sentimental. Still, the seriousness of the conflict between the situation and the person, the youthful sentimentality, the mature wisdom and the strong compassion of the elderly can be experienced in the drama of the various situations.
