‘लोककथा’७८’ हे बेचाळीस वर्षांपूर्वी रंगभूमीवर आलेलं नाटक त्यातला भेदक सामाजिक आशय आणि रंगमंचीय सादरीकरणातला वेगळेपणा यांमुळे बरंच चर्चेत आलं. महाराष्ट्रासारख्या पुरोगामी राज्यात आदिवासींवर झालेल्या अत्याचाराच्या घटनेवर आधारलेल्या या नाटकातलं रौद्रभीषण वास्तव आणि त्याचा मन हादरवून टाकणारा आविष्कार हा एक अविस्मरणीय अनुभव ठरला. या नाटकातला सामाजिक आशय आजही कायम आहे, किंबहुना तो अधिकच भीषण झालाय असं म्हणता येईल. त्यामुळेच हे नाटक आजही कालसुसंगत राहिलं आहे. म्हणूनच ‘लोककथा ‘७८ आणि त्याविषयी सर्वकाही’ हे पुस्तक प्रकाशित करायचा निर्णय पॉप्युलरने घेतला. गेल्या बेचाळीस वर्षांत या नाटकाशी संबंधित अनेक लेख, परीक्षणं, फोटो, जाहिराती, पत्रकं अशी महत्त्वाची कागदपत्रं प्रतिभा मतकरी यांनी जपून ठेवली होती. त्यांचं संपादन करून प्रतिभाताईंनी या पुस्तकाची जुळवाजुळव केली. After editing it, Pratibhatai adapted this book.
