Lack of data and legal complications involved in transport management generally restrict research studies by the academics also. Exploring this sector in greater detail therefore, becomes necessary more so as it happens to be the backbone of the economy. About The Author:- Dr. R. N. Batta, is a civil servant educated in India and abroad. He has done M.A., M.Phil. in Economics from India followed by a M.Sc. Environmental Economics from the University of Bradford, U.K. He later completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from India. The author has several publications to his credit in the area of tourism, transport and the environment, has presented research papers in 20 countries in the world and has done various consultancy assignments for many international bodies.
