Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar: Jeevan-Charit – Dhananjay Keer

थोड़ी-बहुत प्रतिकूलता हर किसी की जिंदगी में होती हैं, परन्तु जन्म से ही जिसके सामने पहाड़ जैसी विपत्तियाँ सामने आ खड़ी हो तो व्यक्ति क्या करेगा ? डॉ. बाबासाहब आंबेडकर की जिंदगी में प्रतिकूलता ने जो तांडव मचाया उसे पचाकर बाबासाहब मानव के रूप में प्रस्थापित हुए, चेतनता से पूरी तरह तेज:पुंज हुए। वह दीप्ति ऐसी अभिनव थी कि उसने बाबासाहब के करोड़ो बंधुजनों को जाग्रत करके “”मदायतं तु पौरुषम्’ का मंत्र उनके प्राणों में भर दिया और उन्हें मानव तु के रूप में जीना सिखाया। वह अद्भुत कहानी प्रत्यक्ष कैसी घटित हुई. इसकी रोमांचकारी हकीकत इस बृहत् चरित में संयम और समरसता से बतायी है। चरित नायक के प्रसादपूर्ण दर्शन होने का संतोष चरित लेखक धनंजय कीर के शब्द शिल्प से प्राप्त होता है।

धनंजय कीर एक प्रतिष्ठित जीवनी लेखक थे जिनके सम्मान में भारत सरकार ने १९७१ में उन्हें पद्मभूषण उपाधि प्रदान की। उन्होंने महत्त्वपूर्ण राजनीतिक नेताओं की जीवनियाँ लिखना आरंभ की। उनकी लिखी जीवनियाँ लब्ध प्रतिष्ठ थीं, क्योंकि उन्होंने उनको लिखने में अथक अनुसंधान किया था और जीवनी लेखन को नीरस आंकड़ों की तरह नहीं, वरन् कला के रूप में अपनाया था। शिवाजी विश्वविद्यालय ने १९८० में उन्हें डॉक्टर की उपाधि प्रदान की थी।

स्नातकोत्तर उपाधि प्राप्त इस पुस्तक के अनुवादक डॉ. गजानन सुर्वेने शिवाजी विश्वविद्यालय, कोल्हापूर से १९७९ में पीएच.डी. प्राप्त की । डॉ. सुर्वे सातारा में लाल बाहादुर शास्त्री महाविद्यालय में हिन्दी विभाग में रीडर शोध निदेशक एवं अध्यक्ष थे। हिन्दी तथा मराठी पत्र-पत्रिकाओं में इनके कई लेख प्रकाशित हो चुके हैं। A little bit of adversity Har Kisi ki Zindagi mein hoti hain, but what will the person who is born in the face of such calamities as a mountain be faced with? Dhananjay Keer was a distinguished biographer in whose honor the Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan in 1971. He started writing biographies of important political leaders. His written biographies were highly regarded, as he had done tireless research in writing them and had adopted biographical writing as an art form rather than as dull statistics. In 1980 Shivaji University awarded him the degree of Doctor.

The translator of this book, Dr. Gajanan Surve obtained his Ph.D from Shivaji University, Kolhapur in 1979. Received. Dr. Surve was the Reader Research Director and Chairman in the Department of Hindi at Lal Bahadur Shastri College in Satara. Many of his articles have been published in Hindi and Marathi newspapers.
