In this book, Devdutt Pattanaik has also discussed the female form of 'Gaya' in the Western Puranas, along with forms of women like Lakshmi, Durga, Saraswati, Kali. While considering the attributes of women such as prosperity (Lakshmi), knowledge (Saraswati), love (Durga) and power (Kali), how the male attitude towards women has changed and how human society has moved from matriarchal to patriarchal, why women have been restricted. Patnaik has discussed the questions in this book.
