Clinical child psychology is newly developed/developing specialty of professional psychology. Though the basic tenets are similar to that of clinical psychology yet the specific requirement for a clinical child psychologist is to have a background in child, adolescent and family development and developmental psychopathology. The clinical child psychologists conduct scientific research and provide psychological services to the children and adolescents. The book is an attempt to provide comprehensive information about the clinical child psychology including the conceptual/theoretical, research and practical issues. The book begins with an interesting introduction of the nature, scope, activities of clinical child psychologists and future challenges. The content of the book is divided in four sections. Section I, deals with parenting and developmental issues, section II, deals with childhood and adolescent problems, section III, deals with the assessment of childhood disorders/problems. Childhood disorders and intervention strategies are described in section IV of the book. The book will serve as a valuable source for understanding the conceptual/ theoretical, research and practical intricacies relating to clinical child psychology to the students, teachers and practitioners. About The Author:- Dr. Radhey Shyam, is presently working as Professor of Psychology, Department of Psychology, M.D.University, Rohtak (Haryana, India). He is recipient of Prof. Anima Sen award for best research paper for 2007, has over two decades of teaching and research experience in the area of Clinical and Health Psychology and Psychological measurement and assessment. He has completed major and minor research projects financed by UGC and other bodies. He has published more than four dozens of research papers in books and journals of national and international repute. Many students have completed their M. Phil. and Ph.D. dissertations under his supervision. He has co-edited two books- 'Psychology of Well being’' and Psychoneuroimmunology' and has co-authored two textbooks (in Hindi)- 'Comprehensive Statistics for Behavioural Sciences’ and ‘Modern Cognitive Psychology’. Azizuddin Khan (Ph.D) is Assistant Professor (Cognitive Psychology) at Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), India. He received his Ph.D degree from IIT Kanpur. He held faculty appointment at T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal, Karnataka. In 2004-05 he was a visiting faculty and researcher at University of Jyvaskyla, Finland. He is recipient of several National and International Fellowships such as German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), International Brain Research Organization Fellowship and Marie-Curie Assistantship. He is working in the area of Human Cognitive Processes, Developmental Neuropsychology, Biological Psychology, and Cognitive Ergonomics. Other major area of interest includes Dyslexia, Event Related Potential (ERP), Working Memory, and Prospective Memory. He had published several papers in national and international journals. He had also contributed several chapters in edited volumes.
