Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu (1872-1957) was a valiant freedom fighter, a true patriot, statesman and a lawyer of repute. Popularly known as 'Andhra Kesari' (Lion of Andhra) he started a newspaper Swarajya to make ideals of Satyagraha reach the common people. He spread the message of nationalism and Swaraj in Andhra Pradesh and beyond. He became the Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency in 1946 and subsequently the first Chief Minister of the new Andhra State in 1953.
