Translated from French by Prabodh Chandra Bagchi. About the Author :-Jean Przyluski (1885 in Le Mans – 1944) was a French linguist and scholar of religion and Buddhism of Polish descent. His interests ranged widely through the structure of the Vietnamese language, the development of Buddhist myths and legends, as well as Indo-European folk traditions such as the werewolf cult. In addition, he thought out general theories about the development of religion, which he presented in his magnum opus L'Evolution humaine (1942).Jules Bloch (May 1, 1880 in Paris – November 29, 1953) was a French linguist who studied Indian languages, and was also interested in languages in their cultural and social contexts. His notable works are --La formation de la langue marathe (The Formation of the Marathi Language), thesis; La Structure Grammaticale des Langues Dravidiennes, Librairie d'Amérique et d'Orient, Adrien-Maisonneuve, Paris, 1946; The Grammatical Structure of Dravidian Languages, Authorised Translation from the original French by Ramkrishna Ganesh Harshé, Deccan College.Sylvain Lévi (1863 – 1935) was an influential orientalist and indologist who taught Sanskrit and Indian religion at the École pratique des hautes études. Lévi's book Théâtre Indien is an important work on the subject of Indian performance art, and Lévi also conducted some of the earliest analysis of Tokharian fragments discovered in Western China. Lévi exerted a significant influence on the life and thought of Marcel Mauss, the nephew of Émile Durkheim.
