‘रानातल्या कविता’ ह्या पहिल्याच संग्रहातील निसर्गकवितेने वाचकांच्या मनाला भुरळ पाडली आणि मराठीतील आजची निसर्गकविता म्हणजे महानोर असे समीकरण निर्माण झाले. तरीही महानोरांनी आपली कविता अनेक अंगांनी फुलविली आहे. ‘वही’ हा संग्रहात त्यांनी मराठवाड्यातील लावणी प्रभावी रीत्या कवितेत आणली. ‘पळसखेडची गाणी’च्या निमित्ताने त्यांनी स्त्री-गीते आणि लोकगीते आत्मसात केली. The nature poetry in the very first collection 'Ranatalya Kavita' enthralled the minds of the readers and today's nature poetry in Marathi came to be known as Mahanor. Still, Mahanora has enriched his poetry with many elements. In the collection 'Vahi', he effectively brought the plantations of Marathwada into poetry. On the occasion of 'Songs of Palaskhed', he imbibed women's songs and folk songs.
