شہزادی جہاں آرا وہ واحد مغل شہزادی تھی جس نے تصوف پر فارسی زبان میں کئی کتابیں تصنیف کیں جن میں سب سے مشہور تصنیف ’’معین الارواح ‘‘ ہےجوکہ ’’مونس الارواح‘‘ کے نام سے اردو میں شائع ہوئی۔ یہ کتاب حضرت خواجہ معین الدین اجمیریؒ اور ان کے نامور خلفاء کے حالات و واقعات پر مبنی ہے۔انھوں نے اس کتاب میں قرآن مجید کی آیات کے حوالے بھی دئیے ہیں. شہزادی جہاں آرا نے اپنے پیر دستگیر خواجہ معین الدین چشتی اجمیریؒ کی ارادت اوراپنی وابستگی ،مشاہدات اور سفر اجمیر کے دوران روضہ خواجہ تک پہنچنے کی کیفیات و جذبات کو اسطرح بیان کیا ہے کہ اچھے سے اچھا نثر نگار بھی شہزادی کے علمی و قلمی تبحر کو داد دئیے بغیر نہیں رہ سکتا۔ شہزادی کی عمر اس وقت تیس سال تھی جب اس کے کپڑوں کو آگ لگ گئی اور جھلس جانے کے بعد اس نے شاہجہاں کے ساتھ اجمیر کا سفر کیا تھا جس کے بعد وہ صحت یاب ہوگئی تھی. شہزادی نے عہد کرلیا تھا کہ وہ اپنے پیر دستگیر کے حالات قلم بند کرے گی اور وہ قرض ادا کرے گی جو نسلوں تک ادا نہ ہوسکے گا،شہزادی خوش خط تھی ،انھوں نے کتاب کا پہلا مسودہ اپنے ہاتھوں سے خط نستعلیق میں لکھا تھا۔
