Mahapoor

‘महापूर’ ही प्रेमभंगामुळे शिक्षणातल्या बेताच्या गतीमुळे, कमी कष्टामुळे, विशिष्ट कौटुंबिक परिस्थितीमुळे मानसिक तोल ढळलेल्या नायकाची हुरहुर लावणारी ‘देवदास’ची आठवण व्हावी अशी उत्कट नाट्यकहाणी आहे, पण ‘महापूर’ हे नाटक ‘महानिर्वाण’ व ‘बेगम बर्वे’ ह्या नाटकांसारखा सार्वत्रिक व सार्वकालिक, एकाच वेळी शाश्वत व अशाश्वत सुखदुःखाचा नाट्यानुभव देत नाही, कारण त्याचा कालावकाश विशिष्ट व अपवादात्मक आहे — आणि ही अवस्था ओलांडली जात नाही. अपवाद अपवादच राहतो. ‘महापूर’ मधे एखाद्या अधिभौतिक अवस्थेचं दर्शन नाही अथवा एखाद्या सामाजिक परिस्थितीचं अवलोकन नाही, तर त्यात एका तोल ढळलेल्या तरुणाच्या विशिष्ट मानसिकतेचं प्रतिबिंब आहे. ‘महापूर’ मधली कालावकाश रचना अत्यंत आकर्षक व नाटकीय आहे. ‘इक्वस’ मधल्या मनोरुग्ण तरुणाची एका मानसोपचारतज्ज्ञाने केलेल्या विचारपूसवजा चौकशीची आठवण येते. स्वतःच निर्मिलेल्या भ्रमात फसलेल्या तरुणाची ही नाटकीय कहाणी चटका लावते. ‘महापूर’ हे तीव्रोत्कट भावावस्थेचा अनुभव देणारं एक चांगलं नाटक आहे. 'Mahapoor' is a passionate drama story reminiscent of 'Devdas' with a protagonist who is mentally unbalanced due to love break-up due to slow pace of education, lack of hard work, special family circumstances, but 'Mahapoor' is a universal and universal drama like 'Mahanirvan' and 'Begum Barve'. Eternal, at once eternal and impermanent, does not give the theatrical experience of bliss, because its duration is specific and exceptional — and this state is not transcended. An exception remains an exception. Mahapoor is not a vision of a metaphysical state or an observation of a social situation, rather it is a reflection of the specific mentality of an unbalanced youth. The time structure in 'Mahapoor' is very attractive and dramatic. One remembers the questioning interrogation of a psychotic youth in 'Equus' by a psychiatrist. This dramatic story of a young man trapped in a self-created illusion is riveting. 'Mahapoor' is a good drama that gives an intense emotional experience.
