भालचंद्र नेमाडे यांची ‘कोसला’ ही कादंबरी स्वतःचे असे वेगळेच प्रभावीपण सिद्ध करणारी आहे. आजच्या काळाचे प्रतिबिंब तिच्यात पुरेपूर उतरले असून ती केवळ एखाद्या तात्कालिक समस्येला हाताळत नाही. कादंबरीच्या आवक्याला पुरेल असाच एक मोठा विषय उकलण्याचा प्रयत्न तिच्यातून लेखकाने केला आहे. समाजाशी माणूस कसा अगतिकपणे, अजाणतेपणी गुंतलेला आहे आणि स्वतःचे असे महत्त्वपूर्ण एकटेपणच या समाजात किती दुर्लभ आहे, वरकरणी अगदी सामान्य वाटणाऱ्या जीवनक्रमातून मोठ्या भेदक रीतीने पटवून देण्याचा जो प्रयत्न नेमाडे यांनी ‘कोसला’मध्ये केला आहे तो मराठी कादंबरीच्या जगात सर्वस्वी पहिलाच मानावा लागेल.
