اس کتاب کے مرتب شورش کاشمیری اسکالر، اردو مصنف اور ناقد ہونے کے علاوہ مجلس اطہر اسلام پارٹی کے لیڈر بھی رہے ہیں اور پاکستان سے شائع ہونے والا میگزین "چٹان" کی ادارت کی ذمہ داری بھی سنبھالے ہوئے تھے۔ انہوں نے مولانا آزاد کے خطبات کو مرتب کیا ہے۔ مولانا ابوالکلام آزاد کے اسلوب بیان میں یہ تاثیر ہے کہ وہ الفاط میں ایک مسیحا نفس کی طرح زندگی پیدا کرتے ہیں ۔ مولانا کے پانچ خطبات اس کتاب میں جمع کیے گئے ہیں ۔ان خطبات میں منجھی ہوئی سیاست کے آرائشی نقش و نگار اور علم و ادب کے روشن چہرے کی مسکراہٹیں پائی جاتی ہیں۔ یہ خطبات مختلف مواقع پر دیئے گئے تھے۔ پہلا صدارتی خطبہ مارچ ۱۹۴۰ میں ، دوسرا صدارتی خطبہ آل انڈیا خلافت کانفرنس میں ۲۹ دسمبر ۱۹۲۵ کو، تیسرا صدارتی خطبہ اجلاس خصوصی انڈین نیشنل کانگریس دہلی میں ۱۵ دسمبر ۱۹۲۳ کو، چوتھا صدارتی خطبہ اجلاس جمعیۃ العلماء ہند میں نومبر ۱۹۲۱ میں اور پانچواں صدارتی خطبہ صوبائی بنگال خلافت کانفرنس میں ۲۸ اور ۲۹ فروری ۱۹۲۰ کو دیا تھا۔ یہ تاریخی خطبات آج بھی دلوں میں حوصلہ پیدا کرنے والے اور سیاسی آگہی کے لئے معاون ہیں۔
