गंगाधर गाडगीळ समग्र कथा मालिका : खंड ९

महायुद्धोत्तर कालखंडातील नव्या वाड्मयीन युगधर्माचे प्रतिनिधित्व करणारे गंगाधर गाडगीळ हे मराठीतील एक अग्रगण्य कथाकार होत. कथा या साहित्यप्रकाराची संकल्पना ‘नव’ विणे, ती अधिक खुली करणे हे श्रेय निःसंदिग्धपणे त्यांचे आहे.

गाडगीळांनी आपल्या कथालेखनातून एक नवी कथादृष्टी व्यक्त केली. कथेच्या विविध घटकांच्या स्वरूपात व योजनेत त्यांनी मूलगामी परिवर्तन घडवून आणले, त्यामागचे गमक त्यांच्या कथेतील अनुभवरूपांचे, कथार्थाचे अपारंपरिक / नवीन स्वरूप हे आहे. त्यांच्या नवकथेने मराठी साहित्यक्षेत्रात ज्या नव्या वाङ्मयीन जाणिवा रुजवल्या, त्यांतून मराठी कथा अधिक मूल्ययुक्त तसेच विविध अंगांनी समृद्ध होण्याच्या शक्यता निर्माण झाल्या. त्यांच्या कथासाहित्यातून प्रकटलेल्या कलादृष्टीचा संस्कार केवळ कथाक्षेत्रापुरता मर्यादित न राहता एकूण मराठी ललित साहित्यावरही तो पडला, असे म्हणणे यथार्थ ठरेल.

गाडगीळांच्या कथेचे महत्व केवळ ऐतिहासिक स्वरूपाचे आहे, असे नाही. तिच्यातील कलापूर्णता तसेच मौलिकता स्वतंत्रपणेही लक्षणीय आहे. गाडगीळांच्या कथेचा प्रवास हा कलावंत म्हणून त्यांचा स्वत्वशोध आहे, गंभीरपणे घेतलेला एक मूल्यशोध आहे.

“काजवा” हा कथासंग्रह १९६० साली प्रथम प्रकाशित झाला. कथार्थानुसार कथागत कालप्रवाहाचा असणारा कमीअधिक वेग, स्थळाचा लहानमोठा आवाका, व्याप्ती, प्रसंगी स्थळ आणि काल यांच्या अवकाशात केलेले मुक्त भ्रमण या सर्वांचा निवेदनाशी असलेला अंगभूत संबंध, निवेदनातील साहचर्यतत्त्वाधिष्ठित संगती, अनेकार्थतेचे परिणाम यांचा प्रत्यय गाडगीळांच्या कवेतून येतो. ‘काजवा’ हे त्याचे ठळक उदाहरण आहे.
