ABOUT THE BOOK:- The essays incorporated in this compilation– Human Diversity in North-east India, quite a few areas of contemporary biological anthropological studies in Northeast India are covered: demography, genetics, human growth and nutrition, somatotype, ageing, reproductive health and disease, metabolic syndrome. We expect that these articles will be able to attract due attention to those who matter. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:- Sarthak Sengupta is a former Professor and Head of the Department of Anthropology; and Director (i/c), Centre for North-east Studies, Dibrugarh University, Assam. He received his M.Sc (1977) and Ph.D. (1983) degrees in Anthropology, from Dibrugarh and Gauhati University respectively. He worked with the AnSI (1983-1989) and NEHU, Shillong (1995- 1996) for quite some time and has published around 300 research articles in various reputed national and international journals besides several chapters in edited volumes and twenty-five books on people of Northeast India. He has mentored fourteen number of Ph.Ds and completed several major research projects. He is an active life and executive member of several professional anthropological bodies and member of editorial advisory boards of The Indian Journal of Anthropology, West Bengal; Indian Journal of Physical Anthropology and Human Genetics, Lucknow; Journal of Indian Anthropological Society, Kolkata; and Bulletin of the Department of Anthropology, Dibrugarh nUniversity, Dibrugarh. At present, he is Vice- Chairperson of the Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists (INCAA), Kolkata. Dali Dutta completed her M.A. (2008) and received the Ph.D. degree (2013) in Anthropology from Dibrugarh University. Atpresent she is attached with the Department of Anthropology, Dibrugarh University. She was awarded the UGC-NET for Lectureship (2008) and has three years of research experience as a Project Fellow in a UGC-sponsored major research project. To date, she has to her credit one edited book besides forty research papers in reputed journals and as book chapters.
