Shaista Bano was Professor of Chemistry at Women's College, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. She served as it's Principal from Feb. 1997 to June 2001. A University Medalist (graduation & post graduation) and a teaching career spanning over three decades, Prof Bano used to actively pursue the cause of community welfare through education and social support to the underprivileged. She was an avid reader with a keen interest in environmental pollution studies. She occasionally contributed articles to magazines and newspapers. She authored two books on Chemistry Practicals. She breathed her last in May 2018.
