आळेकरी नाट्यकालावकाश पुष्कळसा दोन पिढ्यांमधे विभागलेला आहे. इतर नाटकांमध्ये ‘झुलता पूल’प्रमाणे सामाजिक अवकाशांची दखल नाही, तर दोन पिढ्यांच्या एकूण कालावकाशातला फरकच प्रमुख ठरला आहे. पिढीपिढीत काळाचा फरक अध्याहृत आहे. ह्या नाटकांमधे पुढच्या पिढीचा भौतिक अवकाश बदलतोच असं नाही. गाव ते शहर, भारत ते परदेश अशा तऱ्हेचा अवकाश-बदल नाही. त्याच्यामुळे काही पिढीपिढीतले संबंध ठरत नाहीत. पण पिढीपिढीतले मानसिक अवकाश मात्र खूप बदलतात. हे काळ बदलल्यामुळेच घडलेलं असतं, स्थलांतरामुळे नाही. त्यामुळे ते अधिक उसतातही. उदाहरणार्थ, ‘महानिर्वाण’, ‘महापूर’, ‘अतिरेकी’, ‘पिढीजात’, ‘एक दिवस मठाकडे’ आणि बहुतेक नाटकांत वेगवेगळे ‘तो’ स्वतः काही करण्याचा प्रयत्नच न करता आधीच्या पिढीवर खुन्नस काढताना दिसतात. त्याची चिडचिड समजून घेता येते, पण ते स्वतःला बहाल करणार हौतात्म्य वलय अनाकलनीय वाटत राहतं. Alekari's theatrical period is largely divided into two generations. In other plays, social spaces are not considered like 'Zhulta Bridge', but the difference in the total time of two generations has become prominent. The difference in time between generations is obvious. In these plays, the physical space of the next generation does not change. There is no space-change like village to city, India to abroad. Because of it, some intergenerational relationships are not resolved. But generational mental spaces change a lot. This is due to change of time, not due to migration. So they rise more. For example, in 'Mahanirvana', 'Mahapur', 'Atireki', 'Pidhijaat', 'Ek Divas Mathakde' and many other dramas, 'He' is seen taking revenge on the previous generation without even trying to do anything. His exasperation is understandable, but the martyrdom he will bestow upon himself remains unfathomable.
