Unke lateefe (jokes) unke kavita aur nazmon mein prasangik roop se vyaktitv aur tajziya ko prakat karte hain. Yahaan kuch Akbar Allahabadi ke mashhoor lateefe hain:
"Ek bhikari ke paas aaya ek amir,
Bhikari bola: "Aapke paas itna paisa hai,
Toh itne paise ke saath kya karte ho?"
Amir muskurate hue bole: "Bhikari banne ke liye!"
"Hathi ne kiya ped par chadhkar tamasha,
Logon ne dekha, sabne pucha kya kar raha hai,
Hathi ne bola: "Baap bada na bhaiya, sabse bada rupaiya!"
"Ek aadmi ne apni biwi se pucha:
"Kya main aapke liye chaand le aaoon?"
Biwi ne muskurate hue kaha:
"Nahi, mujhe woh bahu chaahiye jo chaand par rehti hai!"
"Ek bachcha apne dost se puchta hai:
"Tere papa kya karte hain?"
Dost: "Mere papa advocate hain."
Bachcha: "Achha, toh kya woh log advocate ho jaate hain jab unko kisi ne kuch maanga ho?"
