font-family: Jost, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.5px;\"\u003eइस पुस्तक में मेरे नये-पुराने कुछ लेख हैं, जो पिछले कुछ वर्षों में लिखे गए हैं। अधिगम के साथ-साथ आलोचना की भी एक अच्छी-खासी यात्रा इस बीच पूरी हुई है। इस पुस्तक का नाम दरअसल होना चाहिए था- 'इक्कीसवीं सदी के मुहाने पर अधिगम और आलोचना'। अधिगम और आलोचना का जो और जैसा चरित्र और स्वरूप यहाँ उभरा है, उसका केंद्र-बिंदु और धुरी यही इक्कीसवीं सदी का मुहाना है। उस समय का राजनीतिक व सामाजिकार्थिक परिवेश व परिदृश्य और इसके बरअक्स उस समय का रचनात्मक सामर्थ्य मेरी निगाह में था। समय बहुत संकटपूर्ण है, इसका रोना प्रायः हर समय गाया जाता है। मेरा ऐसा मानना है कि संकट समय में नहीं, उसके बाबत हमारी समझ में होता है। समय तो अपनी स्वाभाविक चाल से निरन्तर चलता रहता है; यह हम ही हैं जो उसे सही-सही पहचानने-पकड़ने में गफलत करते रहते हैं। इस गफलत के पीछे हमारे कुछ दुराग्रह, कुछ पूवपिक्षाएँ, कुछ गलतफहमियाँ होती हैं जिन्हें हम हर समय अपने सीने से लगाए फिरने के आदी होते हैं। और, हमारी इस रोमानियत के मूल में हमारी यथास्थितिवादी सोच और क्रिया सन्निहित होती है। तय है कि यह यथास्थितिवादी सोच और क्रिया अपने तत्त्व-स्वरूप में विडम्बनाधर्मिता से संत्रस्त होती ही। और जहाँ विडम्वनाधर्मिता होगी, वहाँ अग्रगामी सोच और सक्रियता का अभाव होगा; जिसका कुल परिणाम यह होगा कि समय में क्रांतिकारी परिवर्तनकारी हस्तक्षेप की हमारी सक्षमता संकटग्रस्त हो जाएगी। इस तरह प्रतीत दरअसल यह होता है कि संकटापन्न समय नहीं, हम स्वयं होते हैं! हम अपनी विडम्बनाधर्मिता से मुक्त नहीं हो पाते;
